OEE CALCULATION
How is OEE calculated?
OEE combines three factors—Availability, Performance and Quality. The standard relationship is OEE = Availability × Performance × Quality.
Availability
Availability compares runtime with planned production time. It highlights losses caused by stops during periods when production was intended to occur.
Performance
Performance compares actual production with the amount that could have been produced at the defined target or ideal rate.
Quality
Quality compares good output with total output. Keeping the definitions consistent is more important than chasing a headline percentage without understanding how it was produced.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions.
Why do OEE calculations differ between factories?
Plants can define planned time, ideal rate and quality rules differently. Clear definitions are important when comparing results.
Can OEE exceed 100%?
A sustained result above 100% usually indicates that the target or ideal rate, unit conversion or data definition should be reviewed.
